Wednesday, June 26, 2002Got a jobWe had a big meeting today at work and only a few people got laid off and I'm not one, though I wasn't really worried but even so I held my breath a little, just in case. I still can't quite believe that I'm good enough to keep a good job, even though I know I am good enough. We are tightening up and no jobs are being filled so we will stay busy for now. I think everyone is just glad to know what's happening. I ran out of melatonin and had to get some more. I'd only been on 300 mcg but all I could find were 3 mg. They put me out. I haven't slept that hard in a long time, at least not without taking sleeping pills that leave me feeling bad. I slept so hard I had trouble getting up the first couple nights. I'll have to see how it goes. It's nice to just fall asleep. I hope it lasts. I finished reading "A Mist of Prophecies" by Steven Saylor. This is a mystery set in Rome in 48 BC. Cassandra, a seeress whose prophecies are sought by the highest citizens of Rome, stumbles into the arms of Gordianus the Finder in the market and dies, poisoned. Saylor is great at weaving the history of Rome into the book. This is such an interesting period with Julius Caesar and Marc Anthony fighting Ptolemy over the control of Rome and the mystery weaves these strands through the murder of a woman thought to be mad. Loved it. Heat
The heat wraps around me.
