At home

Other than a quick grocery run very early this morning I've just stayed at home. The grocery run was to pick some milk and I spent $32 without even trying. I did need everything, but it's frustrating. I replenished my over the counter meds (sudafed, nasalcrom, etc) yesterday and dropped over $40. Luckily I don't have to do that every week and I know some people have to spend more than that a week.

I watched the cooking show "Two Fat Ladies" which is so cool. I love to watch them zipping along the winding english roads in their motorcyle and sidecar. The highlight was carmelizing the sugar for creme brulee with a blow torch. Why can't I be comfortably fat like they are? Actually if I ate like they cook I would be obese, but what a way to go. I realize that it's ok to eat all this great stuff, you just need to eat tiny portions, but it's so hard to cook tiny portions so I end up eating more than I should. I try to freeze extra but not everything freezes and it's hard getting it into the freezer before I eat it.

I cleaned out my kitchen cabinets and got rid of all the bottles and such that I keep saving. It's amazing how much room I have now but I wish there was something to do with the bottles. Most of them are plastic and there is no way I'm going to lug them on the bus to a recycling center so I just end up throwing them away. The worst part is that when I stand on a chair to see what's in the cabinets I see the grunge on the stove and on top of the fridge and it is so nasty to clean off. When you are only 5' 4" it's easy to ignore the tops of things and the grime gets set.

I also read "Evil Angels Among Them" by Kate Charles. Nasty telephone calls to the rector's wife and village gossip about a lesbian couple lead to murder and a classic english mystery. Lucy Kingsley and David Middleton-Brown show up to solve the mystery and it was a good read. I don't think I've read one of this series before and but I thought it was very well done.
