Fairytales

I'm redecorating again. My apartment is just too dark. I have too many things that suck up the lights since they are so dark. My three chairs, my lounge chair, my futon, my trunk. Light suckers! I'm covering them with lighter covers and even with temporary changes, it looks so much lighter in here. Dark is just so nice because it doesn't show dirt. I'll just have to clean more often.

I went to see "Into the Woods" by Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine. It was really cool. The actors were all students as this is a U of A production, but they did very well considering what strange music Sondheim has sometimes. It is a retell of Cinderella, Jack in the Beanstalk, Rapunzel, Little Red Ridinghood, and even Snow White and Sleeping Beauty make a brief appearance.

It's a very good parable about making choices, not making choices and making bad choices. I'd never noticed that most fairy tales are about people who have things happen to them but don't really make things happen. Just the fact that if you are royalty or married royalty meant that you would live happily ever after is just one way of saying that who you are is more important than what you do.

It's so nice that I don't have to go to work tomorrow. I love three day weekends.
