Back to work

It was so hard to get up this morning. I was still tired from all the driving, but it was also nice to get back into a routine. Even my usual boiled eggs and toast for breakfast was nice after too many sausage biscuits. There is something to be said about sameness and routine. I would go crazy if everything was always the same, but if there is too much difference it gets tiring.

Even when traveling I get into routines or the changes become tiring instead of interesting. If I had to make a choice I would choose change but I know I could easily start hating it. Now I'm back to my electric toothbrush and my chair and my junk. Love it!

Work was quite busy as there were all the bits and pieces to catch up with. We have been granted a whopping 2% merit raise by our so generous legislature. No cost of living, like some other years, and usually the merit raise is more also. And people gripe about all the money that is spent on state employees. It must those "other" state employees, not any of the ones I know.

Why can't the legislature understand that they will never get the best workers if they treat them like they aren't worth very much. Most of us stay because we like what we are doing and the benefits are good, but the pay sucks.

I'm too tired to write much more.
